After an arrest, a person may be given a bond that is excessive or may be denied bond altogether.

In order to get a reasonable bond set, a formal request for a bond hearing may be necessary. The court will consider different factors when determining whether to give or reduce a bond; i.e. the nature of the charges, community ties, the potential danger to the community, flight risk, etc.
